Pakistan Azerbaijan ties enter new phase
Pakistan and Azerbaijan are building closer bonds. President Ilham Aliyev confirmed this during talks with Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz in Baku on Sunday. The two nations work together within a trilateral setup that includes Turkey.
CM Maryam arrived in Baku on Saturday. She represented Pakistan at the 13th UN World Urban Forum. However, her visit also brought bigger diplomatic gains for Islamabad.
Aliyev’s office released a statement after the meeting. Both sides praised their “fraternal relations and strategic partnership.” They discussed defence, trade, politics, and economics. Additionally, they explored ways to boost regional cooperation.
Pakistan Azerbaijan cooperation expands in key sectors
The two countries see real potential for growth. Trade ties offer the biggest promise right now. Both leaders want to expand business links between their nations. Meanwhile, defence cooperation remains on the agenda.
Pakistan has already adopted Azerbaijan’s “ASAN Khidmet” model. These centres now operate across Pakistan. They provide public services with efficiency and speed. Azerbaijan built this system to serve its own citizens better. So, Pakistan saw value in copying it.
CM Maryam praised Baku’s modern development. She called the city “a harmony between culture and planning.” The capital impressed her with its urban design. Therefore, both sides see lessons to learn from each other.
“The trilateral format gives us real strength,” said a diplomatic source familiar with talks. The Turkey-Pakistan-Azerbaijan triangle creates a bloc with shared interests.
This partnership matters for Pakistan’s regional role. It strengthens ties with two key allies. As a result, Islamabad gains more influence in Central Asia and the Caucasus.
